Litigation
Sarah Benjes is an experienced employment lawyer, with over 10 years of experience representing employers. Sarah focuses her practice on employment litigation, counseling, and compliance. She represents clients in employment disputes involving alleged violations of federal and state employment statutes and common law claims. She has experience representing employers in federal and state courts and at federal and state administrative agencies.
In addition to litigation, Sarah advises national employers regarding a wide range of workplace issues, including employee hiring, discipline and discharge; accommodating qualified employees with disabilities; complying with wage and hour and leave laws; and affirmative action plans and compliance. She assists clients in drafting employment contracts, consulting agreements, employee leasing agreements, non-compete agreements, employee policies, employee handbooks, and separation agreements.
Sarah also advises clients on employment matters in connection with complex transactions, including compliance with employment policies and practices, and drafting of employment and contractor agreements related to such transactions.
On behalf of employers, Sarah conducts internal investigations, employment policy and practice internal audits, and compensation analyses. Sarah has also trained clients and their employees on harassment and discrimination prevention, reducing the risk of employment claims, best practices for hiring, managing, and terminating employees, and compliance with employee leave and disability laws.
Prior to law school, Sarah worked in human resources management in the ski industry for six years at Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation and Vail Resorts.
