Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese Honored by Legal Aid Foundation for Fundraising Efforts

Denver, CO (May 23, 2014) – The Legal Aid Foundation presented an award for Top Performance in Broadening Participation to Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese P.C. at a reception on May 22. This award recognized the firm’s efforts in the 2014 Associates Campaign for Justice, a month-long fundraiser for the Foundation, which provides civil legal representation to low-income Colorado residents. The Foundation honored Lewis, Bess, Williams & Weese both for achieving 100% participation among its associates, and for raising the highest amount of money from non-associates among small firms in Colorado.

“The generosity of our attorneys has really impressed me,” said Megan Rhodes, who served as the firm’s Associate Representative for the Campaign. “I feel lucky to work with a group of attorneys who want to share their success with those less fortunate and help ensure everyone has access to justice.” The firm’s 18 attorneys contributed more than $5,500 to the Campaign, the fifth highest total amount among all 49 participating firms.

The Legal Aid Foundation is the fundraising arm of Colorado Legal Services, which served nearly 12,000 Coloradoans in the last year. Some of those most affected by a lack of legal services include domestic violence victims, families wrongfully forced into homelessness, children caught in custody battles, and senior citizens whose medical benefits may be mistakenly terminated. The 2014 Associates Campaign for Justice raised more than $98,000 for Coloradoans in need of legal representation.
